This community-based ecotourism expedition to the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve provides an immersive scientific and cultural experience in the Amazon. Over six days, participants engage primarily in hands-on field activities focused on observing fish, amphibians, reptiles, bats, mammals, and invertebrates. These activities are complemented by guided forest walks, camera trap monitoring, mist-netting sessions, and nocturnal surveys.
The program intentionally integrates scientific methodologies with local ecological knowledge, fostering direct and meaningful engagement with Amazonian ecosystems. Emphasis is placed on experiential learning, participation, and a strong sense of place, while actively supporting local communities and on-the-ground conservation initiatives. This expedition is predominantly practical and takes place in a remote area, offering a deep immersion in undisturbed environments.
